these 3 pictures i found on google image. to me they show the colours of africa well, strong shades of yellows and oranges which are like the land, and the blue green and red are the colourfull people, it is all outlined like you would see a map of Africa split into diffrent countries

GOLD = the resources (gold, diamonds and other riches)
GREEN = the land (animals, nature, etc..)

RED and BLUE = For the colors of the Dutch flag,the Dutch settlers being the first white inhabitants of SA

Collours of africa are strong, bold and outlined with black. patterns are simple but rich

out of Africa.

I like this tile, and its patterns, it reminds me of the seed pods i have drawn

My journey to India. If I was to break my journey up into significant

sections, places that ment something to me. Places which stay in my memory i would have as follows; Heathrow airport, busy Delhi, the train station, dangerous Haldwani, and the last place Heridakahn (which has many diffrent spellings) a serene enviroment, where you work pray and relax.

each diffrent place has a diffrent feeling. Each place is a key stone of my journey.

i have decided to look at each place in turn, exploring emotions, memories, thoughts, sights and smells. I began by looking backwards, from the mountians and river in heridakahn, and at the moment am exploring water. Water is free moving, movement is important as i am looking at travel. This poem seemd to fit my idea of water well by Berned Howe:

woop, i won something.. A digital arts award, my cd cover of steph and i :) :) :) exciting, i have a certicate.. o0o. shame i missed the presentation..
**cough cough Mr Fitchet** heh heh. there's steph's cd cover, mine. beckys and charlotte's i couldnt find beckys blurry one, but she won a prize too for a sortof mock placebo, twas brilliant! I want to get a pictue of everyones final GCSE piece on here, because they were all AMAZING,. well i gotta go!

this is the tree i drew in my sketch book with my friend "freedom" meditating by it. i took it with his digital camera a few years ago, when i was last in India, its actualy 3trees growing together,its painted with the colours of hanuman, and is very sacrid, the mountians picture is Kilash view, when i trecked up mount kilash, and the other picture is the riverbead, the river joins ganga somewhere down the line (ganga is the most holy river in India) so all is good.

i didnt really use any of these pictures to help me.. except the blue swirl with the red and yellow.. i used it at first as a nice backround to a picture of ganesh (the elephant god) but now i think i will use it as an underneith pattern to my chair, oh yeah by the way im painting a real life chair, its a chair thats structure represents me. my culture, and my beliefs.. its also bursting with colour which is my cup of tea,, mmm fun fun. toodle pip xx

braque and picasso

Ok. our corse work1 is on still life, we've done everthing to do with still life, studied styles and artists.. drawn so many onions.. so many onions.. picasso was a big part of the section, and braque.. we HAVE to put a musical instrument in it,. and a cultural carving, to show we have used strands of things we've been studdying my still life is a onion guitar with a carving to the side, all the curves flow really nicely, i was a bit worried about the balance of my composition, because your eye is drawn to the side of the paper, as it scanns the curves of the onion guitar. I thik i can avoid it by using a print idea i saw in one of braques pieces.. plus i just want to make a potato stamp, how fun are those things?! another thing i kinda stole from braque, was his flower vase,. the curves fit really well, and im rushed for time, why not use another artists work?.. real artists do it all the time. :)

Picasso. Born in Malaga, Spain, a place I have had to visit, 5times. I didn't really find anything inspiring, and i didn't feel creative. I just wanted to find shade. He is really the most famous artist for cubism, and i would best describe cubism as drawing from different viewpoints, it can sometimes look ugly, or weird, but it adds to the effect.I got out a book called modern art, in it i read that picasso was into african masks, i wouldn't have seen the connection i dont think unless i had read it. But it becomes very clear that he did have a link with african masks, and the whole african culture, and i see it alot in this picture with the faces and poses.

This little guy benithe was the best thing i could find to show the faces and how they are similar, in the art department today i saw a little figure which was squatting just like the figure in the right corner..

I do like some of picassos work, cubism is interesting and in lessons can be fun to work the diffrent viewpoints, and following picassos uses of diffrent materials he used, his paintings often look very fragmented, not real, so it is quite a difficult technique to try and master, from reading the "modern art" book it says that cubism was really for a small group of artists, a private art, made by two artists for themselves and a small group of friends.

We had a look at Picassos sculptures, they were made out of cardboard, paper, string.. it was as though picasso wanted to bring his drawings to life, because he didnt carve or make out of clay, he simply got his shapes and assembaled as he wished. Making the paper the sculpture..

HomeBase is truelly Gods Shop.. Not only can you sit in the little wendy houses thinking back to good times, its great for games of hide and seek and it sells paint!! tones and tones of paint!!
Today I went to buy paint,. sometimes I get a craving for colour and I've been needing emerald green,, RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Kinda took hours getting the right colour,. in the end I got it mixed for me,. yay!
i love paint,. and the smell isn't so bad
